  • Things to come in 2008

2007 is now over, and what a poor year it's been for athena, big year for Windows Live, but 2008 promises even more In Feb 2008 Athena will be released, shortly followed by Athena 2008 for Community Server 2008. When athena finally get's released, it'll signify the last of my big themes for a while. Athena's the big one tho. Caching will be prominent in Athena, along with a new control panel interface to help manage the Athena Config file. The CP interface will actually run in side...
  • Exchange 2007 SP1 + Windows Server 2008 RC0

This weekend I took down my mail server, and home server, and reinstalled it. Upgrading from beta 2 to RC0, I've found RC1 to have a couple more bugs in it with regards to profiles and folder redirections. After installing Windows server 2008, i got cracking on setting up the servers, and joining the PC's to the domain. All went well until it came to folder redirections. For some reason Vista + RC0 had a big hissy fit with the way I was setting them up. Thankfully I'm got round this by...
  • How to install vista + all programs in under 5 hours

Well I've done it. I've installed vista, which took 30 mins, installed all drivers, which took another 30 minutes, installed some programs which didn't need restarting, another 30 minutes, and now just left with Adobe CS3 Web Suite, Office 2007 ultimate and Visual Studio 2008. All of this will be done in 5 hours. Right, lets track this, it's now just gone 12am, and I started installing @ 10.30pm. So 1 hour and a half so far. Just got to restart, for the 1st time, to finish installing...

  • Taking flight

Right, the title may sound a bit strange, but, if anyone knows me well enuf, you'll know that I love playing on Flight Sim. 2004, not X, X is kind awful, GFX are good tho. Well after my HDD crashed last year I've been without either, since I hadn't brought the DVD's with me to uni. And over the summer I didn't have time to play on it. This year is different however, still have to get my force feedback joystick from home (getting that when I go home for a birthday next week). But...
  • Sorry for the Downtime

Since early Saturday morning all of the sites hosted by NB Development , that's, nbdev.co.uk, showcase.nbdev.co.uk, techienick.com, cs-listings.com, and some others went silent. At about 2pm BST I found out that the server has been taken offline due to a phishing attack and penetration on the server. Now we have no idea how this happened, something to do with an IE backdoor and recycle bin being compromised. As soon as I found out about it, I redirected DNS to a holding page, just so you know...
  • Back in Plymouth

after causing some nightmares for both my landlord and my dad, I'm finally settled into my Uni room. Managed to get 20mb broadband, wooo, it's fast, lol. Gonna have freeview TV as well here, DVB-T. Just setting MCE to get the channels. Wooo . So far, 70 channels. Just fixed exchange as well, so exchange anywhere will work. Anyhow, no sooner had I told kelly I was back, than I get a phone call asking if I wanted to go out , lol. Way too tired for it, since I'm running on 2 hours sleep...

I know Richard Mercer is on the return, but wondering about the outward bound leg. Outward bound leg: Flight number: BA2193 From: Gatwick (London) Terminal N To: Dallas Fort Worth (Dallas) Depart: 19 Oct 2007 10:35 BST Arrive: 19 Oct 2007 14:30 GMT -6 Class: World Traveller Plus Operated by: British Airways Return Leg: Flight number: BA2192 From: Dallas Fort Worth (Dallas) Terminal...
  • Uni Year 2 Results

Here's my 2nd Year results: A bit late I know, but hey. Just incase you can't read this transcript. All it says is that I passed the year. With 70% + in all the major modules. Who needs law or Alternative Computing Paradigms anyhow. Lol. I passed them two anyhow, only just in the latter's case. Top mark was on AI, but that was easy to get. Next was Java, then Java for the internet, then Server Administration (My favorite module, the hacking module), then Databases, followed by software...
  • Exchange 2007 SP1 Beta 1+ Windows Server 2008 Beta 3

OMFG, trying to get Exchange 2007 SP1 Beta 1 Working on Windows Server 2008 is a fracking nightmare. Firstly, you can install the hub transport role, and the mailbox role, but try to install the client access role, nope, it doesn't like IIS8, lol, nice of the exchange team not to make that work. So what am I to do? Well I'll tell ya, WMWare. Hopefully it'll work in x64 mode this time, if it doesn't then I'll try again to install the client access role on the server. This should...
  • Another, annoying absence

Ooops, I did it again. I got into watching a TV series, yes series (whole show) , not season (a year), and it kinda absorbed about a week of my life. Just like that, a whole week of my life has gone down the drain. I thought watching Andromeda was bad enuf, thankfully that was only 5 seasons long, Charmed , the next series I watched, well that's 8 seasons long, 8 x 22 = alot of episodes, and about 132 hours wasted. Crap, that's alot. I think I miss calculated there, anyhow, it's taken...

The much anticipated Aero 2007 SP2 with lots of bug fixes, is due to release onto Aero Updates on Monday 11th June 2007. It'll also contain a new Variant, hehe, as well as some new features, which include drop down shadows on some drop down menu's. As well as the API's to utilize them. I'll also be looking at Aero 2007's javascript, trying to improve the code. In relation to javascript, I'll also be looking at the drop down menu's on the main body part, to see why they...
  • 1 Exam down, 1 to go

Had my CNET exam today, don't think I did too badly in it. Quite well, hopefully. AINT, next week is the biggy. I need to get a good mark in that. Seen exam tho, so just have to remember the answers the questions, lol Read More...
  • nb development updated

I've spent this weekend (28th -> 30th) Updating NB Development to the latest version of Community Server , as well as giving the front page a bit of a face lift. I really hope you like the new look. I'll be doing a few Webcasts (Yes I know, Webcasts), on how I went about configuring Community Server to do what I want it to do, as well as a few other things. First thing you will notice on the new look NB Development , is the flip box, with quick images about the main sections, this is ALL...
  • Bye Bye Logitech, Hello Microsoft

I've gotten a new Keyboard and Mouse set, this time from Microsoft. It's the Windows Entertainment Desktop 7000 (Link: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=081 ). I wanted the 8000, but that has been delayed in the UK until September. I'll buy it then, and give my current one to the family, for prob usage on the Media Center PC I'll be installing over the summer. The keyboard looks cool, but will take a bit of getting used to it, due to the slight curve in...
  • Aero 2007 Image Packs

Today, I'm going to be releasing a new Image Pack for Aero 2007. This image pack contains 2 new images and is exclusivly for Aero 2007 Beta 1 TR's Aero Updates. You will 1st need to Run Aero Updates, and install the Aero 2007 Beta 1 TR Aero Updates Update. This will update Aero 2007 to the Latest version, which includes the Image Pack features.
