  • I'm gonna be a very poor student this year

Last nite I started getting worried that I hadn't gotten anything about my student loan, and for good reason, I don't know how I knew, but I knew it. Woke myself up early this morning (10am) to find that my Mum, in her infinite wisdom, hadn't sent off the student loan form, OMG!!! I'd filled it in when I was down here over easter, and had asked my mum to put it in a stamped addressed envolope and send it to the student loans company, but did she, like ***, went downstairs to find...

So please stop on by and check it out! ASPnix Share this post: email it...

  • Implementing 3D Tic-Tac-Toe game in Visual Basic

Sometimes looking at past and what you did before makes you happy. Yesterday I was deleting some test projects from my Visual Studio 2003 projects folder and saw my old 3D XO (Tic-tac-toe) game. I wrote it in cloudy years (inspired from a famous novel by Ali Ashraf Darvishian ) in university when I had Data Structures course. It was one of my projects for this course. Always I love practices and writing uncommon codes because they force me to think and design. Most of things developers code everyday...

  • Upgraded Reszler Community - Community Server 2.1 (b2) & Aero (b2)

I have decided to upgrade the site to CS 2.1 b2 since Nick released his Aero b2 theme for the new build. The upgrade went very smooth and only took about 30 minutes including the theme upgrade. I am still tighting things up on the site so you might notice small changes over the next few days. Read More...
  • ClientBlocker 1.1

I modified my ClientBlocker HTTPModule to handle some unexpected manners. I had a mistake in exception handling (actually I forgot to call a method on exceptions) which lets blocked clients to pass this blocker and see the site but by some small changes it should work correctly now. Another change is it returns 200 status for response if client is blocked. void context_BeginRequest( object sender, EventArgs e) { try { string ClientIP = this ._Current.Request.UserHostAddress; CheckIPs objChecker Read...
  • Community Server 2.1 Beta 2

I just upgraded my site with Community Server 2.1 Beta 2 , which was published yesterday. The upgrade went pretty good. I only had to re-compile my custom Akismet spam rule and Ken Robertson's Qgyen.ExtendedUrlMapping module (which source code he fortunately published as well.) Though I'll stay with the default skin until its final release, I'd like to mention that there are four new blog skins included in Beta 2. Awesome work, Jaxon . Read More...
  • Kid Congo blog skin on Nayyeri.NET

After upgrading to Community Server 2.1 Beta 2 , I changed my blog skin to new built-in Community Server skin, Kid Congo, designed by newest Community Server MVP Jaxon Rice . It was (and is) his blog skin and he added this skin plus some other beautiful skins to Community Server 2.1. These new skins need some changes so I had to change some parts for Kid Congo myself. Probably after himself I'm the first guy who applied this skin to an official website but I guess it will be post popular blog...

  • Screencast: Batch import photos into a gallery

In today's screencast I want to show you another, in the line of, what I call "hidden" features of Community Server . Namely the import function in a photo gallery. IMO it's not located in a place where you might expect it to be. You will find it under the 'Advanced Photo Settings' in the control panel of a gallery. I believe it should go under Common Tasks and/or Manage Content. It would be more logical, and easier to find. Although the screencast is recorded with CS 2...
  • JK.com Upgraded To CS 2.1 Beta 2

I’ve upgraded JK.com to the latest bits of CS…meaning CS2.1 Beta 2 . The new blog skins look great, however they suffer from lots of navigation issues, i.e. they aren’t consistent with the other (sitewide oriented) blog skins that shipped with CS2.0. This is something that must be addressed before CS2.1 RTM’s. That all being said, the upgrade was painless…a couple of DB upgrade scripts and that was it. The big push for CS2.2 is an easier skinning model (i.e. you don’t...
